Vietnamese Pandan Pastry Shop

One great thing about Paris is there are always new foods and new flavours to try! I have sacrificed myself to try “Pandan” cake… Pandan is a plant that grows throughout South East Asia and is used as a flavour in pastries and as a natural colorant due to its bright green colour.

I headed to “Pâtisserie Saison”, an Asian bakery in the 13th district of Paris and I tried two different sorts: a Pandan sponge cake and a Pandan pound cake. I thought the sponge cake did not fully reflect the flavour of the Pandan maybe because of the additional cream that was a bit sweet. I was more pleased with the pound cake both with its taste and texture. It was great with a café au lait!

The bakery also offers savoury dishes which I will have to try next time! The 13th district is packed with Asian food shops so in you are in the mood for that, that is a good place to go. Get to Place d’Italie and wander around! Enjoy!
