ART NOUVEAU ARCHITECTURE - PARIS WALK

The terrifying and edible beauty of Art Nouveau architecture
— Salvador Dali

The Art Nouveau movement blossomed during the “Belle Epoque”. It quickly spread through art, design, jewelry, furniture and even architecture.

The most beautiful metro entrances in Paris in the style of Art Nouveau are the creations of Hector Guimard, an architect whose uncompromised vision was to bring art into people’s lives.

This tour will take you to the “chic” and gorgeous 16th arrondissement where Guimard lived and built superb Art Nouveau townhouses and buildings for people of all social classes.

Through a selection of his creations, you will see the evolution of his unique approach to architecture: from his early experimental years, to his refined and elegant “modern style”, then to the last phase of his career.

You will also see a few examples of Art Déco buildings and learn to identify and differentiate both styles.

Bring a camera and prepare for a feast for the eyes !
