Japanese Food Festival in Paris

Japan in Paris! This week-end, I went to “Japan Fes” (short for Japan festival). This year, they set up stands right across the Arc de Triomphe. Each of the stands offered a different type of Japanese street food.

They had savoury items like “Takoyaki” (grilled balls of flour and eggs batter filled with octopus chunks) ; “Yakisoba” (fried noodles) ; Gyoza (dumplings) ; “Korokke” (deep fried croquette of mashed potatoes and vegetables).

And sweet items like ‘Dango” (chewy rice flour dumpling served on a skewer) ; “Mochi” (glutinous rice filled usually with something sweet - today they had some with “Anko” red bean paste).

You could water all that down with Japanese beer, and for some reasons, there was also a stand offering “Tanghulu” a Chinese candied fruit…
