French Presidential Palace “Rooster Gate”

Have you ever seen this gate in Paris? Known as the "Grille du Coq" (the rooster gate), it's the Elysée Palace garden gate. At the top you can see "RF" which stands for République Française and on top is the rooster, ie the symbol of France...

Why on earth did we ever give up the Eagle chosen by Napoleon? And why would we even replace it with a rooster? I will explain in another post…

The Elysée Palace is located right next to the U.S. Embassy where two eagles sit on top of the entrance gate... Oh well...
