The Day of the Dupes
April fools day once happened in November in France!
It was 10 November 1630. Young King Louis XIII has been pulled in different directions by his mother Marie de Medicis and Cardinal Richelieu.
Louis has to make a decision, choose side, and distance himself from either party... The Cardinal has been summoned to present himself to the King, while the mother is waiting in the next room.
Logic would have it he will listen to his mother but that's counting without their long on and off rocky relationship. Unexpectedly, the King confirmed the role of Richelieu as his main minister and the mother was asked to pack, leave the court and cease interfering with the political affairs of the State.
Richelieu won ; Louis XIII kept the best minister a King ever had and France's destiny was going to be shaped.
